Irene Heng is the Head of Management Consulting Services with Knowledge Group Consulting specialising in the area of corporate governance consulting. She served in the same capacity in BDO Governance Advisory. Her primary role is to manage and lead a team of consultants to provide advisory services in the area of strategic and business planning, enterprise-wide risk management, business continuity planning, improving performance and other associated governance services.

She has more than nine years of hands-on experience assisting and working with clients to implement business tools and planning methodologies to ensure a high-level of corporate governance. She has managed assignments and serviced clients in the area of planning, risk management, talent pool development, performance improvement and measurement. Apart from providing advisory services to clients, Irene also facilitated workshops and education programs in risk management. In her current role, she has worked with various multi-nationals and large local corporations across a wide spread of industries including manufacturing, insurance, pharmaceutical, retailing, airport operations, TV broadcasting, trading, newspaper publication, telecommunication, property development and construction, and plantation.

Irene also has vast experience in internal audit consulting which include review of clients' control systems, risk assessment, design and implement cost-effective business control structures, design and set-up internal audit function.

Prior to joining Knowledge Group Consulting and BDO GA, Irene was with a Global Best Practice internal audit function of a Fortune 100 organisation where she was responsible to develop the audit universe and audit plan, execute operational audit reviews, provide recommendations and implement control systems for various operational functions. She also has extensive hands-on experience in fraud investigations and using ACL to perform internal control reviews, set-up and implement control self-assessment processes for business line managers to perform data analysis and financial reporting.  Apart from this, she was also involved as a project manager in the system development review for contingency planning and crisis event management for Y2K roll over.

Irene is experienced in dealing with all levels of an organisation, from advising the chairman and board members on strategic issues, to working with junior managers on basic management skills development.
